Have arrrived in Bratislava. Very long day travelling.
Memo to self – do not plan to do any travel by train that involves two transfers! If this situation is unavoidable then must ensure that there is more than a 7 minute window of opportunity to make the connection!
The snow in Krakow and other parts of Poland, those trains originating from Hamburg and the bad weather in general meant that our trains were significantly delayed, or in the case of the 7.23am, just no shows.
Luckily our contact at Bratislava, Juraj, was very accommodating and picked us up at the train station which was good as it was raining and after 8pm. The apartment has central heating and is very comfortable and comes with tea and coffee. Anthony had been dreaming of central heating in Krakow and thought the owners would read his mind and just turn it on. But Poles must be made of sterner stuff! We made ourselves a mug of fruit tea and contemplated staying here for a few extra days and forgetting about Budapest!
