Florence is a great walking city where you can easily access the many sights without public transport, although you will have tired legs by the end if he day!
The Duomo – wonderful by day
Lovely squares to sit and people watch
Even one with a replica of Michaelangelo’s David
And other treasures
Narrow streets
Lots of little cafes where you can sit or stand and have coffee and croissant for two under 5 euro!
Yum!
Great pizza can be bought by the slice in atmospheric little pizzerias. In this one we perched on packing cases in a corner to eat. I even had a plastic cup of wine for one euro!
And grocery stores where you can buy a feast of olives, tomatoes, bread, cheeses, prosciutto and wine for dinner
And the Ponte Vechio – just stunning!
