Florence the eternal city (3)

Continuing our journey through Florence’s outstanding galleries and churches.

* Basilica Santa Maria Annunziata – free entry into a beautiful church close to where we’re staying. Beautiful frescoes.

Outside they are restoring many of the frescoes.

Inside

* Museo Archaelogico Nazionale – Florence’s museum of archeology
Always interesting to see how different museums display their archeological collections. This museum used lots of close-up photography panels and diagrams of location of artefacts. It also has a garden showing the design of graves and tombs. Keen group of primary students in attendance!

* Galleria dell’Accademia – another must see gallery – home of Michaelangelo’s David and many other wonderful artworks. Very popular so worth going early.

* Basilica San Lorenzo – classically designed church with lovely vaulted ceilings
