Overnight in Rome

Slept for 12 hours and feeling refreshed. Great black out curtains and sound prooofing ensured we had a good sleep. I even slept through Anthony’s leg cramping even though he said he moaned a lot!

Sacrificed a quick trip into Rome this morning for that extra sleep in and leisurely mid-morning breakfast.

Good breakfast selection – soup (not really miso but warming), rice, American style bacon, scrambled eggs and very meaty sausages, vegetables (carrots and Brussel sprouts), cold meats, slice your own bread, fresh croissants and other pastries, fresh fruit, salads, cereals, yogurts (all sweetened), Nescafe machine coffees, juices and bottled mineral water. Attentive service from lots of wait staff.

Outside cloudy and a little cool.

Catching Vueling flight to Palermo this afternoon at 3.30pm and the start of our Go Ahead tour of Sicily.  Meeting everyone for a welcome dinner at our hotel tonight at 7.00pm. Hope they’re nice.

Great hotel for an overnight stopover as it is literally 500 metres from the airport. Not as luxurious as some airport hotels but comfortable enough.
